5 Talents | 5 Projects | One Mediterranean Showcase

ANIMASYROS International Animation Festival, in collaboration with the ANNECY Festival and as part of the MIFA Pitch Partenaire, proudly presents the ANIMASYROS Mediterranean Spotlight - a vibrant showcase born from the MIFA Campus Pitching Workshop held during the Agora Pitching Forum 2024 on Syros Island, Greece.

This exciting initiative empowers emerging talents from the Mediterranean region - this year specifically from Greece, the Western Balkans (Serbia), Turkey, Egypt, and Morocco - offering them a unique opportunity to pitch their current projects in development and attract international partners.

The event is made possible with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the French Institute, the French Institutes of Serbia, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt, and Greece, as well as SKY express, the Official Partner and Air Transport Sponsor.

Boobs

Short Film

Anna has large, sagging breasts - or at least, that’s what everyone around her insists on: friends, teachers, the media, and society. Whenever she tries to get close to someone, her insecurities hold her back, making vulnerability feel impossible. Determined to break free, she sets off on a surreal journey through a world of artificial beauty, searching for something in herself she can finally embrace.

Guaze

TV Series

A guaze is the spirit guide that leads the dwellers of Lashyn's mountains to their destinies. Well, it was. Ever since it dissappeared, the creatures have been lost and adrift. Lashyn needs to find a guaze soon, before the paths erode for good. A pagan folktale of littler strengths, inspired from the forgotten wilds of Circassian mythology and folklore.

Fruits of Labor

Short Film

In a secluded farmhouse, a solitary man finds solace and struggle in the rhythms of life and his unusual relationship with light. "Fruits of Labor" is a contemplative short film about a solitary man in a rural setting who embarks on a journey to find illumination, both literal and metaphorical. The protagonist’s struggle with light and darkness serves as a metaphor for his search for meaning and fulfillment in an otherwise monotonous life. This project explores themes of perseverance, isolation, and the subtle interplay between light and hope.

A broken father-son relationship is forced to confront its past when a meteorite freezes time in Casablanca, leaving the estranged pair to reflect on their past and reconnect before the impact.

A reckless girl finds herself trapped in a magical tale, where she must defeat a dangerous beast to return home before losing her memory and identity forever. A coming-of-age journey about transforming from being self-centered to developing empathy.
