ANIMASYROS returns with a rich educational programme inspired by this year’s central theme, “Animated Cosmos”. Under the guidance of experienced instructors from Greece and abroad, children, teenagers, adults, people with disabilities, and seniors aged 65+ will have the opportunity to bring to life planets, stars, cosmic creatures, and imaginary galaxies - traveling through dreamlike, colorful universes in the most fun and creative way.

For Teenagers
Instructor: Coke Riobóo Cortes
Internationally acclaimed Spanish animator and director Coke Riobóo Cortes invites participants to create their own visual universe through the art of stop-motion animation. Drawing inspiration from space, the history of animation, and the visual arts, the young friends of the Festival will learn how to tell stories - without words, using only movement! This hands-on workshop requires no prior experience - just a vivid imagination and a willingness to experiment and collaborate.
Presented by Cervantes Institute of Athens and the Embassy of Spain.

Cosmic Worlds
Workshop for students and young professionals

Cosmic Worlds is a creative stop-motion animation workshop that invited students and emerging professionals to design and construct their own cosmic environments and original life forms—from distant planets to alien species. Using hands-on animation techniques, participants will bring their galactic landscapes to life, frame by frame, exploring new and imaginative approaches to visual storytelling.

Ceramics & Animation Workshop
For families with children aged 7-10 years old
Instructors: Thomas Künstler & Manos Mastorakis
Animator Thomas Künstler and ceramicist Manos Mastorakis invite families to a unique hands-on workshop where ceramics meets animation. Inspired by this year’s theme, Space & Memory, participants will create ceramic objects that come alive in imaginative universes and dreamlike landscapes through stop-motion animation. The workshop unfolds in two parts: first, families craft ceramic pieces and sets; then, they animate and film their creations, producing a short animated film that bridges memory and imagination.

In this fun and engaging workshop, participants will learn to use the Stop Motion Studio app and embark on a creative journey of exploring the world around them. Guided by director and animator Renen Adar, they’ll discover how animation can be made not just with toys and clay—but with anything, anywhere! A workshop designed for those who see everyday life as a vibrant, imaginative playground.

In collaboration with the Open Care Centre for the Elderly (KAPI) of Syros - Ermoupolis
This year, members of Ermoupolis KAPI become children once again - bringing clay to life! Alien creatures take shape and set off on journeys through distant galaxies in a vibrant, space-filled adventure. Using the magic of stop-motion animation, the group will tell imaginative stories of mysterious planets and otherworldly beings. To infinity... and beyond!

Space Soup

This is Space Soup! Stars, moons, planets, comets—and a whole lot of color! In this space-themed animation workshop, members of KDAP MEA Syros will stir up their own imaginative universes using paper, paint, and boundless creativity. Floating shapes, cosmic creatures, and miniature galaxies come to life in a vibrant whirlwind of artistic exploration.

Planet Pals

Workshop for the students of the Special Primary School of Ermoupolis
Planet Pals is a two-day stop-motion animation workshop created for students of the Ermoupolis Special Primary School. Through a playful and imaginative process, children will learn the basics of stop-motion by designing, building, and animating their own short film. Together, they’ll bring the planets of our solar system to life as unique characters on an intergalactic adventure. The workshop fosters creativity, collaboration, and confidence—turning imagination into motion, one frame at a time.
